Grint shows off his new colours.
In a big boost to his BTRDA Rally Series Somerset Stages preparation James Grint, and the British Racing Grint Team, have launched the new colour scheme that adorned the car for the rest of this season with sponsorship from car cleaning products company Greased Lightning.
The Mitsubishi Evo 9 now sports a fluorescent green paint job with Union Jack detailing and new sponsor decals. “The car won’t be missed in the forest – if it’s not noisy enough, the colour is certainly loud” commented James. “After the gearbox issues which have blighted us for the first couple of rounds and testing, the new colour scheme really makes it feel like a fresh start. We’ve done a lot of work on the car since the Malcolm Wilson Rally and now having the continued support from Greased Lightning I feel like we can put those dramas behind us and push forward”.
Still very much in a development year in the new car, having only contested two rallies in it – James, from Hitchin, has put in a strong performance on the opening two rounds of the championship to bring the car home even with the gearbox issues.
The first outing for the car, complete with new livery, will be the Somerset Stages Rally based out of the seaside town of Minehead. The stages are fast and flowing with a red sandy surface. Dust can often be an issue on this event if dry and competition is likely to be tough.
Competitors will also take two runs us the famous Porlock Toll Road during the event is a spectator spectacular. To find out more about the event, where to spectate and how to support James visit www.somersetstagesrally.com. James would like to thank Motul Oils, Pirelli Tyres and Performance Friction Brakes for the ongoing support he’s received.
