West Kingsdown Cup Update

In response to an ever growing number of Formula Ford Zetec cars being run in various UK club racing championships, the central ‘just for fun’ challenge cup for FFZetec cars, the West Kingsdown Cup, has been taking place at Brands Hatch this this season.

The West Kingsdown Cup will be presented at the 2010 Formula Ford Festival to the Zetec driver scoring the most points across six nominated races at Brands Hatch circuit, with four rounds completed the top 6 in the points table are :

1 John Whitbourn 78
2 Mark Edwards 40
3 Matt Hayes 36
4 Paul Presgraves 26
5 Julian Hoskins 20
6 James Harris 16

Racing has been close with John Whitbourn emerging as the front runner with one round and two races left to go. Only DNFs can deny John the first West Kingsdown Cup and exciting plans for 2011 are already being drawn up and will be announced during the Autumn, to give yet more opportunities to current, and future, zetec owners and drivers

During 2010 any Formula Ford Zetec driver competing in Formula 4, Monoposto 1800, and SEMSEC championship races held at Brands Hatch will score points towards the West Kingsdown Cup.

The final two rounds are being held on 12th September during the SEMSEC run meeting, and more drivers are anticipated to join in in during the run up to the Formula Ford Festival in October.

Monoposto – Mono 1800

Monoposto Club Mono 1800 – 28th March 2010 (Single Header)
750MC F4 – 24th April 2010 (Double Header)
750MC F4 – 19th June 2010 (Single Header)
SEMSEC OSS – 12th September 2010 (Double Header)

Note: F4 races will be regularly televised in 2010

With an ever growing number of Formula Ford Zetec cars being run in various UK club racing championships, we’re delighted to announce a central ‘just for fun’ challenge cup for FFZetec cars – the West Kingsdown Cup.

As a result of driver feedback to Formula Ford Zetec racers Mark Edwards and John Whitbourn, the West Kingsdown Cup will be presented at the 2010 Formula Ford Festival to the Zetec driver scoring the most points across six nominated races at Brands Hatch circuit.

Any Formula Ford Zetec driver competing in Formula 4, Monoposto 1800, and SEMSEC championship races held at Brands Hatch will score points towards the West Kingsdown Cup.

Eligible Classes

Formula 4 – Class C
SEMSEC – Class C
Monoposto – Mono 1800

Eligible races are:

Monoposto Club Mono 1800 – 28th March 2010 (Single Header)
750MC F4 – 24th April 2010 (Double Header)
750MC F4 – 19th June 2010 (Single Header)
SEMSEC OSS – 12th September 2010 (Double Header)

Points will be awarded for final race placing, pole position and fastest lap.

If you’re racing a Formula Ford Zetec in 2010 registration is automatic and free for all FFZetec drivers entering and racing at Brands Hatch in the races above.

McKenna to test F4 : US FF2000 switch

Duratec Formula Ford front runner Patrick McKenna is to test Absolute Racings race winning Van Diemen F4 at Oulton Park on Friday (29th Jan) to gain some experience ahead of a possible graduation to the revitalised US F2000 Championship.

US F2000 kicks off a packed 2010 calendar with a support race to the IZOD Indy Car Championship on the streets of St Petersburg at the end of March.
